Getting to know Valerie Kofstad
Can I just say . . . . I love being a Broker! After 23 years, I better :)
There are so many aspects to Real Estate and I love all of it! My job allows me to be a valuable consultant to my clients so they can make the best decision. My daily duties involve staging, pricing, analyzing data and trends, coordinating the transaction, inspections, negotiating, problem solving and listening to the needs of others. It’s important to me to take care of my clients. Working in a small town allows me to "run" into my clients daily. I do the best job I can during the transaction so that we retain a positive relationship for years to come.
My Story~
Shortly after getting married, my husband and I started preparing to buy our first house at age 19. I didn't have a dream of being a realtor, I was interested in understanding the process before buying our first home. Eventually I assisted a few friends and family and realized my job was to teach and guide them through the process. Now, 23 years later, I have sharpened my skills and industry knowledge to give my clients the absolute best service. My natural desire to help others lead into a mentorship role in our office. I enjoyed guiding other brokers through paperwork and helpful hints about the industry. I became a Principal Broker in 2019 and purchased our office from my long term friend and mentor, in 2020 (Thank you Connie Hinsdale). Together with my business partner Korinna Barcroft we own and operate Harcourts Silverton in the same teamwork fashion it was founded in, under the previous names of Coldwell Banker Silverton and NW Oregon Realty Group, dating back to 1996. Most of our brokers start as new agents and stay their career here because they love the leadership and culture we have.
We are an office of Virtue.
That may sound cliche, but let me explain. As a company, we value our individual clients and honoring our duty to them over anything else. These virtues have always been an integral part of our office culture. In 2010, I partnered with Virtue First (a local non-profit organization) in a collaborative effort to help the local youth. Their curriculum was so easy to embrace that it made sense to adapt the application into our office setting. As an office we now promote a weekly virtue. We promote the virtue of the week by setting aside 1-hour each week to discuss the virtue and have it displayed in our office. These small steps have a BIG impact. Our office feels more like a supportive family then a cut-throat sales office. The teamwork atmosphere definitely benefits our clients as we network and try to sell each others properties, encourage marketing strategies, share industry knowledge, share contacts for trusted and quality vendors and encourage positive thinking!
